Information PiPPlay handles
PiPPlay runs only on youtube.com pages covered by its declared Chrome host permission. To provide the floating mini-player experience, PiPPlay may locally access and use information from the current YouTube page and player, including:
- the active video and playback state;
- the current video title and media/player state;
- captions or subtitle text when captions are available and enabled;
- native YouTube player controls needed for related mini-player functionality; and
- YouTube navigation state needed to distinguish video pages from browse pages and reconnect the floating player.
This information is processed in the browser for PiPPlay's user-facing features. PiPPlay does not send this YouTube page content or navigation information to a server operated by PiPPlay.
Preferences stored by Chrome
PiPPlay uses Chrome's storage permission to remember preferences such as:
- mini-player volume;
- playback rate; and
- the Auto Float setting.
These preferences may be stored using chrome.storage.sync, which means Chrome may synchronize them through the user's signed-in Chrome profile. PiPPlay does not operate a separate account system or server that receives these preferences.
Temporary session state, such as a Sleep Timer countdown or the current floating-player state, is used only while the relevant session is active unless Chrome itself persists a preference.
Information PiPPlay does not collect for its own backend
PiPPlay does not operate an analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking backend. PiPPlay does not intentionally collect or transmit to a PiPPlay-controlled server:
- names, email addresses, phone numbers, account identifiers, or other personally identifiable information;
- passwords, cookies, authentication tokens, or login credentials;
- financial or payment information;
- health information or precise location;
- personal communications or advertising identifiers; or
- a cross-site browsing-history profile.
PiPPlay does not sell user data.
How information is used
Information accessed from the current YouTube page is used only to provide and improve PiPPlay's single user-facing purpose: keeping the current YouTube video available in a floating, always-on-top mini player with closely related playback controls and navigation behavior.
PiPPlay does not use website content or browsing information for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending decisions, data brokerage, or unrelated profiling.
Sharing and transfers
PiPPlay does not transfer YouTube page content, captions, video titles, or navigation information to a PiPPlay-controlled server or to advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
Chrome may process or synchronize extension preferences through Chrome services when Chrome Sync is enabled. YouTube and Google also process activity on their own services independently of PiPPlay under their own terms and privacy policies.
Human access
Because PiPPlay does not operate a backend that receives the YouTube page information described above, PiPPlay's developer does not have routine human access to that information.
Data retention and user control
PiPPlay does not maintain a server-side history of the videos a user watches. Local access to YouTube page and player information occurs only while the extension is active on supported pages.
Chrome controls storage and synchronization of preferences stored through chrome.storage.sync. Uninstalling PiPPlay stops the extension from accessing YouTube pages. Users can also manage extension data and Chrome Sync in Chrome settings.
Security
PiPPlay is packaged as a Chrome extension and does not download or execute remote application code. It requests only the permissions needed for its current functionality: Chrome storage and access to https://www.youtube.com/*.
Changes to this policy
If PiPPlay's data practices change in a future release, this policy will be updated. Material changes that require additional disclosure or consent will be handled in accordance with applicable Chrome Web Store requirements.
