SUPPORT / FAQ
Frequently
asked questions.
Everything useful, without the support-ticket maze.
01What is PiPPlay?
PiPPlay is a lightweight floating mini player for YouTube. It keeps the video you are watching in an always-on-top window while you work, study, design, code, browse, or multitask.
02How do I use PiPPlay?
Open a YouTube video in Chrome, click the PiPPlay extension icon, and continue watching in the floating player while you use other tabs or desktop apps.
03What controls are available?
PiPPlay supports play and pause, jump backward or forward 10 seconds, adjustable volume and mute, playback speed, captions when available, a Sleep Timer, and read-only playback-quality status.
04Does PiPPlay collect my data?
PiPPlay has no advertising, analytics, telemetry, tracking backend, or PiPPlay account. Player information is processed locally in your browser, and PiPPlay does not send YouTube page content or browsing activity to a PiPPlay-operated server.
05Why does PiPPlay need access to YouTube?
The extension runs only on YouTube pages. This access lets it detect and interact with the active player, read playback state and available captions, support YouTube navigation, and maintain the floating-player experience.
06Does PiPPlay block ads or download videos?
No. PiPPlay does not block ads, replace YouTube's recommendation system, or download video content.
07What is Auto Float?
Auto Float is an experimental feature that can open the floating player when you switch away from YouTube. You can control the setting from PiPPlay.
08Can I use a keyboard shortcut?
Yes. PiPPlay supports a customizable Chrome keyboard shortcut. The default shortcut is Alt + P.
09Does PiPPlay support captions and Skip controls?
Captions are supported when they are available and enabled on the YouTube video. When YouTube provides its native Skip control, PiPPlay can surface it inside the floating player.
10Which Chrome version is required?
Chrome 116 or later is required.
